Our Social Enterprise of the Week:

ApparelXchange are a social enterprise providing sustainable clothing services to help reduce the impact of clothing on the planet.

Their Vision / Mission:

Established in 2018 ApparelXchange are dedicated to the reuse of children’s clothing, making clothes affordable and accessible to all while also helping the environment. They run a shop and online store where people can donate and buy high quality, pre-owned children’s clothes and school uniforms. Children grow out of clothes so quickly that many items that are thrown away are still in great condition and could instead be donated. ApparelXchange have found a way to reduce clothing waste while also providing parents and carers with access to affordable children’s clothes.

ApparelXchange are encouraging everyone to make environmentally positive choices and think more about what they throw away. They help children learn about the impact of reuse on protecting the planet, so they can grow up to be more environmentally conscious.

Why We Chose Them:

Many people have been struggling financially over the past year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so having somewhere to buy affordable children’s clothing is extremely important. ApparelXchange have also been helping families in need by providing free school uniforms, gifting over 3000 garments throughout the summer last year. In line with Government guidelines they have created contact-free collection points so clothing can still be donated despite their store being closed. It’s great to see that ApparelXchange have found new and innovative ways to help people during what has been a difficult time for many.

The Work They Do:

How They Align With Our Values:

At Ground Up Digital we are always looking for ways to waste less, reduce our carbon footprint and be more environmentally friendly, so we love the work ApparelXchange are doing. We have joined forces with Oblong Trees to become more carbon positive by planting trees to offset our carbon footprint.

By making it easy for people to donate and buy pre-owned clothing ApparelXchange are making quality children’s clothes accessible to everyone. This inclusivity is something we strongly believe in here at Ground Up Digital as our social mission is to offer equal job opportunities to all.
