Social-Enterprise-of-the-Week---Bright-Box

Our Social Enterprise of the Week:

Bright Box

Bright Box create playful spaces, giving everyone the opportunity to explore technology, engineering and arts.

Their Vision / Mission:

Bright Box are a social enterprise based in Sheffield. Their mission is to create learning opportunities for everyone, regardless of social or economic background. They aim to get more young people engaged and involved with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) subjects and do this by running a number of different classes and activities throughout the community.

They also work with schools to transform the way these subjects are being taught, raising children’s aspirations and really grabbing their attention. As well as all this, they work within deprived communities, organising events and activities including summer clubs. These workshops teach young people new and important skills while also helping to bring together local communities.

Why We Chose Them:

We think it’s great that Bright Box are giving young people the opportunity to get involved with these practical and creative subjects. Sometimes STEAM subjects can be overlooked, but by letting children explore and test their own ideas, these subjects can really capture their imaginations and plant the seed for a lifelong passion in these areas.

The Work They Do:

It’s clear, looking at their reviews on facebook and their community presence, the real impact they are making to young people’s lives, why not check out their facebook page for yourself and give them a follow?

How They Align With Our Values:

At Ground Up Digital we strongly believe that everyone should be given the same opportunities in life regardless of background. We love the fact that Bright Box offer their services to everyone, especially those in deprived areas and are teaching new skills throughout these communities. Getting children to engage with these subjects at an early age, will inspire a new generation of creative thinkers. At Ground Up Digital we’re always trying to think outside the box and can truly appreciate how valuable this skill is.
