Our Social Enterprise of the Week:
Elmet Archaeological Services Ltd.
Elmet Archaeological Services Ltd. is a social enterprise based in South Yorkshire, helping the community explore archaeology. They provide social and academic archaeological training as well as mental health support to help bring people together to work towards a common goal.
Their Vision / Mission:
Elmet Archaeological Services believe that learning about archaeology and history is highly important for everyone, so they run a variety of different education programmes to both schools and adults. These programmes explore a wide range of archaeological sites, time periods and themes and focus on engaging the local community.
They also regularly run free field schools, open to all who are interested and a weekly family history group, where you can research your family tree. Elmet Archaeological Services are also involved in providing a 24-week mental well-being project, covering personal development, archaeology and history.
Why We Chose Them:
It’s great to see all the work that Elmet Archaeological Services are doing not only to help their community, but also in teaching others and improving our understanding of local history and heritage. The mental well-being project they are running is another great idea and we love the concept of using archaeological field work to improve fitness and help reduce people’s feelings of isolation.
The Work They Do:
How They Align With Our Values:
The classes and groups run by Elmet Archaeological Services are open to anyone who is interested and teach people a whole range of new skills. This closely aligns with our mission here at Ground Up Digital, as we try to hire inexperienced staff, with plenty of potential and then give them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
