Our Social Enterprise of the Week:
Fabrication Crafts is a social enterprise supporting micro crafts and design businesses. They run craft classes, host exhibitions and events and stock locally made products in their shops in Leeds and York.
Their Vision / Mission:
Fabrication support local artists and craft makers across Yorkshire, as well as encouraging people to explore their own creative potential through classes and workshops. Set up in 2008 to provide a work space for makers, Fabrication has now expanded to run 2 stores in Leeds and York. Their stores give local artists and makers a place to showcase and sell their products.
Fabrication aim to teach valuable craft skills throughout the community by running cookery, sewing and craft classes in their workspace in Leeds. They also host exhibitions, events and craft markets, providing opportunities for the everyone to get involved.
Why We Chose Them:
We love the fact that Fabrication is supporting and promoting other small businesses and talented people, giving them the recognition they deserve. As a small business ourselves we know how important small businesses are and the positive impact they can have. Fabrication also tries to reduce the isolation often experienced by crafts people, by providing spaces where people can work together. Having this sense of community improves mental well-being, so this is a great idea.
The Work They Do:
How They Align With Our Values:
