Our Social Enterprise of the Week:

Poetry Space

Poetry Space are dedicated to promoting and nurturing poets, artists and creative writers, helping them showcase their work.

Their Vision / Mission:

Established in 2010 Poetry Space have spent the past 10 years nurturing poets, artists, writers, photographers and designers. Their mission is to create a space where poets and creative writers from around the world can promote their work without judgement or prejudice. They have achieved this through their website, which is open to everyone to showcase their creative work.  As a social enterprise, all Poetry Space’s profits are used to widen participation in creative writing and expression. They run workshops, events and competitions encouraging everyone to explore their creative side. They also work with young people in schools, running creative workshops for children to get involved with, as well as having a dedicated Young Writers Space on their website.

Why We Chose Them:

Poetry Space believe creative expression is important for maintaining good mental health and well-being and so have been encouraging people to get creative while in lockdown. They’ve produced a publication called Locked Down which includes a selection of poems, diaries and art all created by people during the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s great that Poetry Space understands the importance of looking after your mental health and the role that creativity can play in this.

The Work They Do:

How They Align With Our Values:

Here at Ground Up Digital we understand the importance of creativity, as much of the work we do requires a creative flare. It’s fantastic that Poetry Space are inspiring young people in creative fields as this will give them great opportunities in the future. The way that Poetry Space help people who may not have a wide readership to get their message across, is also something we try to do here at Ground Up Digital, through our blog and social posts.
