Our Social Enterprise of the Week:
Seable are an award-winning social enterprise supporting people who are blind or partially sighted by providing them with incredible holiday experiences.
Their Vision / Mission:
Seable noticed that holidays for the visually impaired were not widely catered for and made it their mission to change this. They provide accessible holidays for blind and partially sighted people, so they do not miss out on travelling and experiencing different countries and cultures. Seable listen to their client’s ideas and needs and create a tailor-made holiday based around this. They can cater for individuals and large groups alike ensuring that everyone enjoys a holiday they will remember for years to come.
Planning a holiday can often seem daunting for someone who is visually impaired so Seable remove all the stress by handling everything from travel to accommodation, leaving their clients free to enjoy the experience. While on the holiday they provide as much (or as little) support as their clients want and have trained chaperones who are always on hand to help in any way. This level of support means that anyone can travel with them and feel safe and relaxed.
Why We Chose Them:
The past year has been difficult for many people, especially those classed as vulnerable. Feelings of loneliness and isolation that are more common in these groups have been heightened, as social contact has been reduced. The holidays that Seable are providing are offering opportunities to people who may not have otherwise had access to them. They are boosting the confidence and well-being of their clients by enabling them to travel safely abroad, gain new experiences and meet new people. During the coronavirus pandemic Seable have been focusing on places within the UK for their clients to safely travel to so they do not miss out. They have also been volunteering during lockdown to help their community in any way they can, which is great to see.
The Work They Do:
