Our Social Enterprise of the Week:

Soft Touch Arts

Soft Touch Arts are a social enterprise and charity who engage disadvantaged young people through arts, media and music activities.

Their Vision / Mission:

Set up in 1986 Soft Touch Arts are on a mission to support young people who lack opportunities and are facing challenges in their lives. Each year they work with over 1000 young people to give them a brighter future. Through their creative activities, they are able to engage with the young people and help them lead fulfilling lives. Soft Touch believe that creativity opens doors for young people and gives them more positive choices in life.

Soft Touch deliver a wide range of fun and creative activities including music projects, art programmes and run pop up cafes, allowing young people to gain cooking and catering skills. They also organise creative activities for young people with autism and deliver employability support to help young people move onto the career ladder. Though their creative activities, events and exhibitions Soft Touch are giving young people a more positive outlook on life and helping them get back on track if they have gone down the wrong path. By helping young people change negative behaviour, their communities also benefit. 100% of the areas Soft Touch work in have seen a reduction in anti-social behaviour.

Why We Chose Them:

Soft Touch Arts are unable to run their face to face activities and events at the moment, but they haven’t let this stop them from supporting their community. They are running free weekly online creative sessions, in music, singing, arts, media and cooking. This gives young people fun activities to do while they’re at home and means they are still getting the support they need from Soft Touch.

The Work They Do:

How They Align With Our Values:

We love the fact that Soft Touch Arts are inclusive to everyone. They help people from all backgrounds, including young people with disabilities and ex-offenders and support them to live fulfilling lives. This closely aligns with our values here at Ground Up Digital, as our social mission is to hire people who may have struggled previously to find employment due to past mistakes or neurodiversity. Giving people who are struggling the opportunities they need to create a better future is a fantastic idea.
